Ch 2, turn and sc in same st, work sc evenly along edge of rows back to top,
ch 2, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3, FO.

Button loop, with DG, ch 12, leaving long tails to attach.
Attach loop to center of row along “top” of rows.

Sides (make 2)
With DG, ch 21
Row 1: Beginning in 2nd ch from hook, sc across to end.
Row 2-6: Ch 1, turn, sc across to end
FO

Finishing
Cut piece of DG about 5-6 times the length of your side piece. Use diagram below for placement (diagram shows pouch with wrong side facing you). Using yarn needle, attach side to project, beginning with point A (on pouch) to point A on side. Continue along long edge of (side piece) to point B (on pouch and side), turn and fold pouch around edge of (side piece) and continue attaching to point C (on pouch and side), fold pouch around edge of (side piece) and continue attaching to point D. Reinforce stitches around points A and D and weave in ends. FO
Repeat for second side piece on opposite side of pouch.

Attach button to pouch in center of DB row where button loop rests comfortably when flap of pouch is closed.
This pouch is sized for your basic paperback book. It could be easily enlarged to hold larger books by repeating the stitch pattern more times per row, and adding more rows.
